Press Release – On Killing of Sh. Rahul Bhat in Kashmir

KHST condemns yet again the selective killing that took place in Kashmir a few days back. It Is very sad that, Sh. Rahul Bhat a Kashmiri Pandit, who was appointed to the revenue department in 2010, under the Prime Minister’s special package for the migrant Kashmiri Pandit community, was shot dead at his chamber at Tehsil office Chadoora in the afternoon on Thursday 12TH May 2022. He was shifted quickly to Srinagar’s SMHS where he succumbed to his injuries.

The Kashmiri Pandit community has been targeted time and again by the gun wielding terrorists even after being forcibly evicted from their homeland in 1990. These gruesome murders are yet again an eye opener for the government that the cohabitation of Minority community in valley doesn’t suit the agenda of the fundamentalists despite center’s assurances.

These targeted daylight murders once again prove the murderous intentions of terrorists and fundamentalist section of locals who openly challenge the government against the return of Kashmiri Pandits with respect and dignity back to valley.

KHST, urges the Government of India to take serious note of such heinous terror attacks on minority community and expect not to remain silent and take all necessary measures for the safety and security of all KP’s living in valley. KHST is very concerned about all the PM package employees living in Kashmir valley and demands for the immediate implementation of all the measures ensuring their safety and security.
